Gavyn Backus
Gavyn Backus
Board Chair

Gavyn is a problem solver and creative at heart, someone who thrives at the intersection of complex challenges and collaborative environments. Whether navigating a high-stakes transaction or designing and building furniture, he brings curiosity and intentionality to everything he does.

Gavyn is a technology lawyer. He is currently Senior Legal Counsel at Clio, where he focuses on commercial strategy, governance, and transactions, helping teams move quickly while managing risk across complex commercial and strategic relationships. Prior to Clio, Gavyn practiced corporate and commercial law at DLA Piper's Vancouver office, advising clients across entertainment, technology, fintech, and other growth sectors. He also served as an adjunct professor at UBC's Peter A. Allard School of Law, lecturing on corporate and commercial matters and supervising students through the Business Law Clinic.

As a lover of music and the arts, Gavyn appreciates The Beaumont's significance, not only to local artists and creative professionals, but to the community more generally. He joined The Beaumont's Board of Directors in August 2023 to help contribute to the organization's important initiatives and support The Beaumont as it moves into its next chapter.

Justin Davis
Justin Davis
Treasurer

Justin Davis is a Chartered Professional Accountant and a 10+, Vancouver‑based finance professional currently employed with Wells Fargo Canada as a Vice President in commercial banking. Previous to that, Justin worked at Ernst and Young where he obtained his CPA with a focus on audit, risk, controls and tax. He is a UBC, Sauder School of Business Graduate with a focus on accounting. Justin has worn many hats advising businesses and organizations on capital structure, risk management, and sustainable growth. His professional background brings a disciplined treasury and oversight lens to the Beaumont’s financial stewardship.

Alongside his career in finance, Justin has been an active contributor to Canada’s electronic music and arts community for over 25 years. He is a DJ and producer with releases on multiple record labels and across all major streaming platforms. He maintains an ongoing radio show, Goodhousekeeping Radio, on Beaumont’s beloved Bside Radio and has had multiple residencies and DJ appearances across Western Canada and The Beaumont. Justin has contributed at a strategic and organizational level to major Canadian music festivals, serving on the organizing and strategy committees for Bass Coast Music Festival and Valhalla Music Festival and in 2025, he was a member of the Juno Awards committee for Underground Dance Single of the Year.

At The Beaumont Studios, Justin brings a rare combination of financial expertise and firsthand experience as a working artist, helping ensure the organization remains both financially resilient and deeply connected to the creative community it serves.

The Beaumont provides makers and creators of every conceivable form a foundation upon which to express and expand their creative passion.

Naureen Ali
Naureen Ali

Naureen Ali is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA). She holds a Master of Education and brings experience in fundraising operations, governance, strategy, financial management and organizational transformation. Naureen began her career in assurance services at Ernst & Young before moving into senior finance roles across large private and public sector organizations. She has since taken on a leadership role in higher education fundraising operations. In addition to her professional roles, Naureen has served as an advisor and board member with nonprofit organizations supporting a range of social causes. She is inspired by The Beaumont’s critical role in connecting art and community, creating opportunities for people to better understand one another through shared creative experiences.
