Have you ever wanted to speak directly to and ask questions to people that are successful in the voice-over business in Vancouver?

On Sunday December 11th – On The Mic Training Presents:

“THE VANCOUVER VOICE-OVER SCENE and BEYOND”

A Voice-over Industry Panel with special guests.  This will be an honest and open discussion about the business of being a professional voice-over actor in Vancouver and beyond (on-line and other markets).  This panel will be for all levels from the complete beginner to the pro and everyone in between. All ages and all levels are welcome!

No experience necessary.

A good portion of the panel will be directed by the questions asked from the audience. The panel will also cover specific topics:  Including agents, home studios, on-line work, how to get work, how to find out where the work is, how to sell yourself, websites, demos, where to study and how to study on your own, markets outside of Vancouver and why there is enough work for all of us, and more.

The panelists will be Michael Daingerfield, Alistair Abell, Kirby Morrow and Noel Johansen: who are some of the busiest people in the business in Vancouver when it comes to performing voice-over and casting/directing voice-over.

Come be part of the discussion, ask the questions you’ve been wanting to ask and learn from our 4 panelists – who between them have over 4000 jobs and over 60 years of professional experience combined behind the mic.  Don’t miss this unique event – seating is limited!  There will be door prizes!!!

Michael Daingerfield founded OTMT 4 years ago and it has now become the biggest school in Vancouver to train in the art of Voice-over with the addition

of Kirby, Alistair and Noel.  Michael is one of the busiest and most versatile Voice Artists in North America. His voice can be heard around the world, from

The USA to Canada, Australia, throughout Europe, Finland, Mexico, Asia and beyond.  Over the last 15 years, Michael’s voice has appeared in over a thousand

projects in various radio and television commercials, animated series, promos, radio imaging, video games and documentaries.  One of Michael’s first gig’s

was the lead Voice in the CBS animated series Ace Ventura: Pet Detective – playing Ace Ventura.

Michael is currently the national voice of Best Buy, ABC Country Restaurants, Access Communications, Blue Diamond Almonds

and Centura Health. He is also the narrator of History Televisions Flag ship series “Ice Pilots NWT” which has just been green lit for a 4th season.  Michael

was also just cast as one of the lead voices in the new animated series ‘GloE’.

ALISTAIR ABELL


 

 

 

 

Alistair Abell has been an actor since 1992 – classically trained with a BA double majoring in Theatre/Economics at St. Lawrence University in NY State. He has been doing Voice-overs since 1994 and began casting and directing voice-overs in 1996.  Alistair has currently cast and directed over 500 commercial VO’s – over 750 film and television roles as well as has over 1500 voice credits himself. On top of all this when he has the time he directs walla and adr for most of the major film sound houses in Vancouver.

Some of his Commercial casting & directing credits are:

Volvo, Jack Daniels, Nestle, Asics, Franks Hot Sauce, Panasonic, E-trade, Electrosol, Lysol, Axe, Southern Comfort.

Some of his  Film & Television casting & directing credits include:

KIRBY MORROW

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Kirby trained in Theatre and developed his vocal skills on the stand-up Comedy stages around the world.  He has played hundreds of characters over the last 16 years, but is best known as Goku from Dragonball Z, Cyclops from X-Men: Evolution, Miroku from Inuyasha, and Michaelangelo from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Currently, he is starring as Cole, the leader of the ninja warriors in the second season of Lego’s hit show Ninjago.  Kirby has been a driving force in the voice over world, acting both as talent and teacher.  He is highly in demand as a vocal and audition coach, and has been the guiding force behind many actors voice over careers.

NOEL JOHANSEN

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Noel Johansen has an exceptional voice over career.  For the past 13 years, starting in New York, then Los Angeles, and now Vancouver, his voice has been in hundreds of commercials, both nationally and internationally, as well as narration, animation and promos.  In the commercial world he has been the voice of Panasonic and Nokia (worldwide), TGI Fridays and Sylvan Learning Center (US), and in Canada: Future Shop, Shaw TV, BC Honda, Ford Alberta, and the Vancouver Aquarium.  Noel has also narrated shows like “Hollywoods Greatest Stunts” and Tube Tales (TV Tropolis for Global) as well as doing national network promotional spots for the Travel Channel in the States.

As a teacher, Noel has been teaching Voice-Over for 10 years, in Los Angeles and now in Vancouver.  Originally mentoring under Stuart Dillon, (writer and producer of “The Voice Over” – A Guide to the Business and Techniques of Commercial Voice Over) Noel has developed a method of teaching that is effective and will elevate you to industry standards, and understands both the Canadian and American markets.
